A highly effective essential oil, Tea Tree Oil is an Australian native from the Melaleuca Alternifolia plant. A favourite throughout the beauty and skincare industry, Tea Tree Oil comes straight from the leaf, and is more concentrated when the oil is extracted and distilled. The Origani Research and Development team love working with Tea Tree Oil for its natural effectiveness and ability to rapidly transform problem skin for the better.
Where does Tea Tree Oil come from?
It is rumoured that renowned Australian explorer Captain James Cook used to brew the leaves from the Melaleuca Alternifolia to create a spicy and refreshing drink - hence the name “Tea Tree”!
Back in time, small vials of pure Tea Tree oil were given to Australian soldiers to be included in their first-aid kits for treating wounds and preventing infections. Native Australians even crushed the Tea Tree leaves to extract the oil and then inhaled the oil’s vapours as an effective and natural treatment for coughs and colds.
Today, Origani use organic extract Tea Tree Oil that is extracted via steam distillation, ensuring that the natural oil can be removed safely without the use of any harmful chemicals. Despite many efforts, no laboratory-based products have been synthesized, meaning that when you are buying Origani Tea Tree Oil products, you can rest assured that it is 100% organic and naturally sourced.
So why use Tea Tree Oil?
Tea Tree Oil is one step away from pimple-banishing magic! In small doses,Tea Tree has antiseptic, antibacterial, anti-fungal, and anti-viral properties. You know all of those skin problems we usually googling for remedies? Google no more! Tea-Tree is the perfect natural soothing ointment for sensitive skin, excess oiliness, sun-burn, blemishes, dry scalp, and raw itchy regions.
What Tea Tree Oil infused products should I be using?
As the perfect Certified Organic soother, we include Tea Tree Oil in a range of our Dermassure products, ensuring you get the healthiest, clearest, most naturally glowing skin.
We recommend these two steps as regular facial skincare:
Step1. Use Tea Tree Oil Cleanser
Start and end each day with a lukewarm face rinse, followed by our Dermassure Clear & Calm Toning Cleanser. With active ingredients like Salicylic Acid, Willow Bark Extract and Tea Tree Oil, the cleanser is gentle while still penetrating the skin through sebaceous follicles and rebalances the skin’s pH. Cleanse in gentle sweeping circular movements.
Step 2. Apply Tea Tree Oil Serum & Mask
You might be tempted to find an exfoliator and toner in the hopes your blemishes will disappear. This is a common mistake! Excessive force may cause further dryness and irritation to your skin, which in turn may compensate by producing more oil! Instead...
After cleansing, use the Dermassure Clear & Calm Flaxy Balance Serum. With Linumine, a natural source of lignans from flax seed, this will regulate the sebum production to rebalance oily skin.
For the occasional at home facial, try the Dermassure Clear & Calm Pore Refining Mask featuring Tea Tree Oil extract. The Oil works in tandem with other miracle ingredients Acai Berry, Carapa uanesis and Copaiba Balsam. These ingredients work in synergy to clear and nurture blemished and stressed skin. It is in our opinion, the best way to end a busy weekend.
Note, always start smaller doses of Tea Tree Oil and space out applications initially in order to understand your skin’s reactions. Tea Tree Oil is potent, so make sure that it is diluted in a carrier and try to avoid direct application where possible. Don’t be afraid of it through - give it a try, and we’re sure it will quickly become a staple of your skincare routine!
What other ways can Tea Tree Oil be used at home?
There are many ways to formulate Tea Tree Oil into beauty and skincare products; some of our favourites are below:
✓ Add a few drops to a hydrating mask to soothe the skin – it will also help kill acne-causing bacteria and control sebum production by penetrating the skin to unblock sebaceous glands, disinfect pores and dry out whiteheads, blackheads and pimples
✓ If suffering from dandruff or allergy, add a few drops to a moisturiser and get your partner or best friend to give you a scalp massage!
Keep in mind though, you know what they say about too much of a good thing? The same is true of Tea Tree. Despite our love affair for this magic oil, we should remind you that it is toxic if consumed and is best used in small doses.
No essential oils should be applied directly to the skin regularly. They are far too concentrated. Also, remember to steer clear of pure essential oils when you are pregnant just as a safety precaution.
We hope you enjoy your journey to clearer skin with Dermassure products that contain a good dose of Tee Tree oil – Mother Nature’s most effective remedy for blemish-free skin!
